Way Young Dragon Boat Club – Constitution

A.
A. Objectives |
|
Way Young Dragon Boat Club (here below
abbreviated as “the Club”) was founded on the 14th of October 2006. It is
registered as a non-profit sporting organization. The Club’s objectives
include:

1. To promote and popularize the sport of dragon
boating;
2. To enhance the willpower, improve dragon
boating techniques and strengthen the body through systematic and
professional training;
3. Relying on consistent training and
participation in dragon boat competitions, unleash team corporation and
spirit to achieve results;
4. To provide multi-facet competitive
opportunities through exchanges and co-operations with other clubs;
5. Actively participate in dragon boat
competitions or related activities both in Hong Kong and Overseas so that
the Club will become part of the driving force for promoting Hong Kong's
dragon boating sport.

B.
B. Organization |
|
1. The Club’s main administrative body is
the working committee (the Committee). The committee’s members include the
Chairman, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Team Manager, the Captain and
other voluntary committee members. The committee is responsible for all
administrative matters. Potential candidates and numbers are nominated after
consultations amongst the Chairman, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Team
Manager and the Captain. These candidates then become committee members
after they have accepted the nomination. The Club has a Training Committee (TC)
led by registered coach(es) together with assistants. The TC handles all
matters in relation to training and competition businesses. The person
in-charge of the TC is also a member of the Committee.
2. Club members are classified as ordinary,
student or honorary members. With the exception of honorary members, all
other members are required to pay an annual fee. The establishing of an
honorary class member is primarily for conferring honors on those who have
exceptional contributions to the Club’s foundation, development and normal
operation. Honorary members are dully elected and unanimously passed by the
working committee.
3. The Club will invite experienced persons from
the dragon boating field, from time to time, to act as honorary advisers to
provide their expert advices on the Club’s normal operation, training,
competition and other matters.
4. Under unanimous agreement with the Committee,
the Club will hold general meetings with the members to report on matters
relating to the Club’s operation, organization, strategy, direction and
other important matters.

C. C. Joining Requirements
|
|
At least 16 years old with an enthusiasm
for dragon boating sport, unimpaired physique, adequate stamina, basic
swimming skills and a voluntary wish to participate in all dragon boating
activities and competition
|
|

|
D. Fees |
|
1. Annual Fee – For normal operation and the whole
year’s training expenses
Ordinary Members: HK$700
Student Members: HK$250
Honorary Members: No Fee
2. Competition Fees – Equally distributed amongst
the participating members.
3. Uniform Fees – Every registered member will
entitle to have one competition uniform when they first join and paid the
annual fee. Other uniforms (the Club’s windbreaker and polo shirt) will be
sold to the members at cost if necessary.

E. Other Activities |
|
Apart from the normal dragon boat training
and competition, the Club may also participate in other sport and social
gathering activities such as the indoor rowing competition, voluntary work
for charity and a host of other extra-curricular activities like hiking and
barbequing, etc.

F. Regulations and Rules |
|
1. During training, activities and competitions,
members must maintain the Club’s image and act with its benefits as the
foremost.
2. Every member must try their best to attend all
scheduled training sessions. If they can not attend a particular session, they
should inform the relevant coach in advance.
3. During training sessions, members must obey
instructions of the Captain and the coach.
4. Unless agreed by the Captain or the coach,
members cannot participate for other teams or clubs within the same
competition.
5. The Team Manager, the Captain and the coach
will be responsible for selecting the members to participate in a competition.
The selection will be based on the members’ collective training performance,
training attendance, on the day performance and other individual
circumstances. Members shall not object to the selection.
6. Members selected for the participating team
will not be divided into main team or reserves. If circumstances allow, a list
of participating members will be posted a week before the competition. The
final list of participants will be jointly decided by the Team Manager, the
Captain and the coach.
7. During competition, members must:
be on-time;
strictly abide by the code conduct and
regulation;
act and move as a collective whole under all
circumstance unless specifically instructed by the Team Manager, the Captain
or the coach;
obey the instructions of the Team Manager, the
Captain or the coach.

G. Remarks for Training
|
|
1. When the typhoon signal no. 1 is hoisted, all
scheduled training sessions will remain un-affected.
2. If the typhoon signal no. 3 or above is
hoisted, the scheduled training will be cancelled. If the signal is removed
before 7:00 am, the scheduled morning training session remains unchanged. If
the signal is removed before 5:00 pm, the scheduled evening training session
remains unchanged.
3. If the red or black heavy rain signal is
hoisted, the scheduled training session will be cancelled. If the signal is
removed before 7:00 am, the scheduled morning training session remains
unchanged. If the signal is removed before 5:00 pm, the scheduled evening
training session remains unchanged.
4. If the yellow rain signal or thunder storm
warning is hoisted, every member is still required to report to the training
location. The coach has the authority to change or amend how the training will
be conducted and where. However, the coach will make the final decision
whether to cancel the training session according to the prevailing weather
condition. If the condition is so bad that the training ought to be cancelled,
then the coach will inform the members 2 to 3 hours before the training
session.
5. During cold weather condition, if the air
temperature drops to 12°C or below, all water training will be cancelled. The
coach has the authority to change or amend how the training will be conducted
and where. However, the coach will make the final decision whether to cancel
the training session according to the prevailing weather condition. If the
condition is so bad that the training ought to be cancelled, then the coach
will inform the members 2 to 3 hours before the training session.
